Isra Pananon is a true public servant with leadership experiences that span nonprofits, federal government, academia, and the military. She is a Captain in the United States Army Reserve, social work graduate student, and Advisor to the President’s Office at the Natural Resources Defense Council. In the Army Reserve, Captain Pananon is a Human Resources Officer (42B) with experience in Medical Operations and Intelligence (70H). In 2014, she deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and completed missions to Afghanistan, Qatar, and Jordan. In the civilian world, Isra has worked at several nonprofits in various capacities. She has experience molding leadership teams and structures, advising senior managers on conservation policy, and building and cultivating external partnerships. From 2012-2015, Isra served as an Obama Administration appointee at the U.S. Department of the Interior as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, Special Assistant to the Secretary, and Special Assistant, Intergovernmental and External Affairs.
Isra received her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore, Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is working towards her second masters degree, Master of Social Work (MSW) at the New York University. She resides in Brooklyn with her partner Julia Weeks. |
